Welcome to issue #42 of Sonic Postcards!

One of the highlights of the week has been getting to listen to SZA’s new album, SOS. It comes in at 23 tracks and is one of the better front to back albums I have heard this year. It’s so good I’m including two tracks on this week’s playlist.

It’s been around 10 years since SZA released her first two EPS, See.SZA.Run and Z which are still two of the most unique collection of tracks I have come across. Between the synths, her lyrical somersaults and their delivery the EPs are potent dose of an alternate reality. The only artists that came close to crafting something similar at the time were Abhi//Dijon (also on this week’s playlist).

Going back and listening to these EPs tonight alongside SOS, is an awesome trip. I recommend listening to “AFTERMATH” and then listening to Snooze or Gone Girl.
